Welcome to the library page. Children at Beechwood are encouraged to come to the library every week with their class. The library is also open at lunchtimes for different year groups.
At Beechwood, we want the children to develop a love of reading and will be encouraging them to chose books that interest them from the library.
Library Family Time
Every other Thursday 3.20pm to 4.00pm
Come along and browse the Beechwood Library shelves, read a book with your children or just take a quiet moment in this wonderful space.
Books will be available to loan on family tickets.
BIRTHDAY BOOKS
It appears to be a tradition for children to share sweets and cakes for their birthday with their classmates, which some families might not be able to do. However, books bring everlasting joy, so instead of bringing in expensive treats, why not buy a copy of your child’s favourite book and donate it to the school library. Each book will have a bookplate with your family’s name on it and the date it was donated. Your child’s classmates, and other children, will be able to enjoy the books for many years to come.

LIBRARY NEWS!
Scholastic Book Club
Our new Scholastic Book Club is up and running!
Go to http://schools.scholastic.co.uk/beechwood-lu4 to browse the latest books and order online. For every £1 you spend on this month’s Book Club, our school will earn 25p in Scholastic Rewards. Please place your order online by May 17th, 2019
Thanks to the generosity of the school community, we have raised over £180 in rewards, which have been spent on new books for the library.
Thank you for your continued support.
This month’s catalogue is available from the library and includes:
Diary of an Awesome Friendly Kid: Rowley Jefferson’s Journal
(Cat.No 204: £7.99)
Rowley Jefferson is Gregg Huffley’s best friend. He puts their adventures into his own words, so we find out what he was really thinking! The Diary of a Wimpy Kid series is extremely popular and this latest addition will be no exception.
Tom Gates: Mega Make and Do (and Stories Too)
(Cat.No 201: £4.99)
It’s the Half Term holidays, and Tom’s parents totally forgot! Never fear though, Tom has some interesting ideas to keep himself (and your kids) amused.
Also available for younger readers is Scholastic’s Book of the Month
Kind
(Cat.No 5: £4.99)
This is a book about how we can make the world nicer, by being kind to each other. 50p from the sale of this book will go to the Three Peas Charity (click for more info)
There is also a large selection of Lego and Unicorn books to keep your children amused, while they practice their reading skills.
If your child picks up a catalogue, there are free child tickets for Legoland Windsor and national Sealife Centres (only valid when accompanied by a full paying adult). So why not plan for the half term and buy some books for the journey.
NEW BOOKS
The library has been able to purchase the new David Walliams book – Fing. Extracts were read to visiting classes and this has proved to be a popular title.
Jaqueline Wilson’s new book, ‘My Mum, Tracy Beaker’ has also been added, with pupils requesting reservations for this story.
Also available is a new set of Peppa Pig books for younger readers.
If you have any questions that you would like to ask the librarian, please send an email to library@beechwoodprimary.org.uk.
